Time Card Calculator

Weekly work hours, overtime, and pay from clock-in times.

Quick answer

How do you calculate hours worked?

Subtract clock-in from clock-out, then subtract unpaid breaks. 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM is 8.5 hours; minus a 30-minute lunch is 8 hours. Five days like that is 40 hours — at $20/hour, $800 gross pay.

Daily hours = (clock out − clock in) − break. Weekly pay = regular hours × rate + overtime hours × rate × 1.5.

Answer
Total: 40h 00m (40 hours) • Regular 40 h • Overtime 0 h • Gross pay $800.00
  1. Each day: (clock out − clock in) − break minutes. If clock out is earlier, the shift crosses midnight.
  2. Add every day: 40h 00m = 40 decimal hours (minutes ÷ 60).
  3. Pay = 40 × $20.00 = $800.00 before taxes.

Enter clock-in, clock-out, and unpaid breaks for each day to total your weekly hours, overtime, and gross pay. Overnight shifts are handled.

About this Time Card Calculator

The Time Card Calculator totals your work hours for the week from clock-in and clock-out times, subtracts unpaid breaks, splits regular and overtime hours, and estimates gross pay. Overnight shifts that cross midnight are handled automatically.

What you'll need

  • • Clock-in and clock-out time for each day
  • • Unpaid break minutes
  • • Hourly rate (optional)
  • • Overtime threshold (default 40 hours)

How it works

  1. 1. Enter in and out times for each day worked.
  2. 2. Add unpaid break minutes.
  3. 3. Enter your hourly rate.
  4. 4. Read total hours and overtime.
  5. 5. See estimated gross pay.

Worked example

Mon–Fri 8:00–17:00 with a 30-minute break is 8.5 h × 5 = 42.5 h: 40 regular + 2.5 overtime. At $18/h: 40 × 18 + 2.5 × 27 = $787.50.
